August 12 (Thursday) - Pink Martini Night Peninsula, Williamsburg
This very popular event returns to the Peninsula, this time to be hosted at the elegant Williamsburg Winery. from 5:30 - 9pm.  Since 'Thursday is the new Friday' this event is a favorite of the after-work crowd, fun date night, or a perfect time for a girls/guys-night-out.  Tickets are $45 in advance or $50 at the door and include two signature pink martinis, or two beer, wine or soda as well as heavy hors' d'oerves, live entertainment, silent auction, pink balloon auction and more.  To purchaes tickets for this event onlyclick here.

  August 19 (Thursday) - Bat for the Cure, Norfolk
The "Boys of Summer" will be wearing their special once-a-season bright pink jerseys for the annual Bat for the Cure game when the Norfolk Tides play the Durham Bulls.  Enjoy watching a breast cancer survivor throw out the first pitch and the ceremonial check presentation for money raised through ticket sales later in the game.  When tickets are purchased through the Komen office a $4 donation from each $9.50 ticket will be made back to Komen Tidewater.  New this year is your chance to first or third base seating for you and your groups and tickets will be mailed, can be picked up at our office or picked up on game day at Will Call.  We will not be using the vouchers this year and hope this makes it easier for you.  To purchaes your tickets click here

 

September 16 (Thursday) - Survivor Luncheon, Virginia Beach
Breast cancer survivors, their supporters and those interested in learning more about where Komen funded research is headed will want to sign up for the Survivor Luncheon from noon - 2 pm. at the Sandler Center in Virginia Beach.  Our speaker will be Marianne Halciati, ph.D. who will present "Komen's Mission Investment in the Next Generation of Research Grants for Screening, Treatment and Diagnosis".  Her program will inform and explain where research grant money is invested and what it can mean to survivors and those who fill face diagnosis in the future.  She is a fabulous speaker who has that rare talent to explain a complicated subject in easy-to-understand terms and insert humor in many places.

Pink Ribbon Mermaid at Mermaids & Martinis Night September 21 (Tuesday) - Pink Martini Night, Norfolk
Back for a 4th year in Norfolk is one of our most popular events.  Perfect for after work or a casual date, the evening features live entertainment, silent auction, balloon purchase, heavy hors d'ouerves and signature pink martinis.  This year's event will be held at the Chrysler Museum of Art from 5:30 pm - 9 pm.   To purchaes tickets for this event only click here.

   

 

 

October 16 (Saturday) - Race for the Cure, Virginia Beach
We hope you can join us for our largest fundraising event of the year when the Race for the Cure returns to the Virginia Beach Boardwalk for a 5K competitive and recreational run.  If running does not appeal to you that's OK because we have a 5K or 1 mile walk.   Families can participate since our Kids for the Cure is open for kids age 3-11 with a shirt designed especially for them by a local child.  Teams are 10 or more people but they can participate in different events.  This is a fun way to get your friends, family, co-workers, church or club members together in support of finding the cures and support local breast health services that are funded by Komen grants.   Registration is open now by clicking on RACE on the Homepage.  The dropdown menu will provide more information as well as a chance to register.

 

 November 7 (Sunday) - Victorian Tea, Chesapeake
If you enjoy an afternoon of tea, sandwiches, silent auction and hope you'll want to be at the Victorian Tea at the Khedive Temple in Virginia Beach.  Speakers, entertainment and more make this a relaxed, elegant and fun afternoon.  Ticket and event information will be posted when available.  

 

 

 January 15, 2011 (Saturday) - Norfolk Admirals Pink in the Rink
Save the date for this popular yearly event.  The game this year saw Norfolk Admirals and the Adironack Phantoms wrapping part of their hockey sticks with pink tape in support of the day.  Icon Limousines bravely and generously donated their pink stretch limo to deliver breast cancer survivor, Cassi Fritzius, for the ceremonial puck dropping.  A pink stretch limo driving onto pink ice really is memorable.  Stay tuned for photos.  Tickets and updated information for this event will be available in the fall.

Rally for the Cure, Golf or Tennis
Rally can be incorporated into an existing event or you can design an event around the breast cancer awareness theme.  Most people chose to Rally through golf or tennis. However the program is easily adaptable to other activities such as, bridge, bunco, mahjong and other fitness pursuits like yoga, spinning and swimming.  Rally provides sign-up sheets, posters and flyer to promote the event among your club members and/or community members.  Rally provides all the materials to support the event including event decorations, a prize, participant goody bags, pink ribbon pins and other breast cancer awareness items.   Volunteer "Ambassadors" plan and host the events locally. Event Coordinators at Rally Headquarters act as a virtual event support staff.
